Palworld Multiplayer Down or Error? Troubleshooting Common Connection Issues
As of December 27, 2025, Palworld’s official servers are currently operational.
Below is a guide to troubleshooting the most common Palworld multiplayer errors.
1. Check Current Server Status
Before tweaking your own settings, verify if the problem is on Pocketpair’s end:
- Official Status Page: Check
for real-time uptime of Official Servers and the Server Lobby.palworld.statuspage.io
- Social Media: Follow the
X (formerly Twitter) account for emergency maintenance announcements.@Palworld_EN
- Community Reports: Check DownDetector or the Palworld Discord to see if other players in your region are reporting similar drops.
2. Common Errors & Quick Fixes
"Sorry, you’re currently prevented from playing online multiplayer games"
This is a frequent error, particularly for Xbox and Game Pass users.
- The Fix: Check for a pending update. This error usually triggers when your game version doesn't match the server's version.
- Xbox/PC Game Pass: Go to Manage Game > Updates.
- Steam: Right-click Palworld > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
"Connection Timed Out"
This typically happens when trying to join a Dedicated Server or a friend's Co-op world.
- The "3-Try" Rule: Pocketpair has previously noted that the server handshake can fail on the first attempt. Try joining 3 times before restarting the game.
- Direct IP Connect: If the server list isn't loading, use the "Join Multiplayer Game (Dedicated Server)" option and manually enter the
IP:Port(Default port is usually8211).
"Failed to Host Multiplayer Session"
If you are trying to start a co-op game and see this:
- Toggle Multiplayer: Go into your World Settings, turn Multiplayer OFF, launch the world, exit, turn Multiplayer ON, and try again. This "refreshes" the session ID.
3. Advanced Troubleshooting
If the servers are green but you still can't connect, try these steps:
- Check Your NAT Type: Ensure your network NAT type is set to Open. If it is set to "Strict," your router will block most Peer-to-Peer (P2P) connections, preventing you from joining friends' worlds.
- Configure Windows Firewall: Your security software might be blocking the game's traffic. Ensure that both
Palworld.exeandPalServer.exeare added to the "Allowed Apps" list in the Windows Defender Firewall for both Public and Private networks.
- Disable VPNs: While VPNs can sometimes help with routing, Palworld’s anti-cheat software and regional locking can occasionally flag VPN IP addresses. Disable any active VPNs to see if it restores your connection.
- Perform a DNS Flush: Old or corrupted network path data can cause "Connection Timed Out" errors. Open the Command Prompt as an Administrator and type
ipconfig /flushdnsthen hit Enter to clear your cache.
